The dangerous minute is the installer, not the ordinary Tuesday. Ask for a snapshot first, then run it.
What is worth a snapshot
A program upgrade, a SQL upgrade, a Windows feature update, and any installer the vendor describes as “it will restart several times” are worth a snapshot taken that hour. Monthly security patches on a quiet evening usually are not, if last night’s snapshot already exists. The point is a known-good disk you can return to without reconstructing the company from exports.
How to ask
Email info@lusona.org with the server name and “snapshot before install, keep the current disk”. We take it, you install, you test the one report that matters. If the install fails, say whether you want the whole disk rolled back. Rolling back deletes everything written after the snapshot, including invoices typed during the attempt. That is why the test should be short and the decision fast.
What the snapshot will not save
It will not keep a mail already sent, a payment already submitted in a browser, or a file you copied off the server onto a laptop. It will not help if the installer was fine and the data you imported was wrong. For that, the SQL or application backup from the same hour is the smaller, sharper undo.

O que merece um instantâneo
Uma atualização de programa, uma atualização de SQL, uma atualização de funcionalidades do Windows, e qualquer instalador que o fabricante descreva como “vai reiniciar várias vezes” merecem um instantâneo feito nessa hora. Patches mensais de segurança numa noite calma normalmente não, se o instantâneo da noite passada já existir. A ideia é um disco sabidamente bom para onde pode voltar sem reconstruir a empresa a partir de exportações.
Como pedir
Envie um e-mail a info@lusona.org com o nome do servidor e “instantâneo antes de instalar, manter o disco atual”. Nós fazemos, você instala, você testa o relatório que importa. Se a instalação falhar, diga se quer o disco inteiro revertido. Reverter apaga tudo o que foi escrito depois do instantâneo, incluindo faturas escritas durante a tentativa. Por isso o teste deve ser curto e a decisão rápida.
O que o instantâneo não salva
Não guarda um correio já enviado, um pagamento já submetido num browser, ou um ficheiro que copiou do servidor para um portátil. Não ajuda se o instalador correu bem e os dados que importou estavam errados. Para isso, a cópia SQL ou da aplicação da mesma hora é o desfazer mais pequeno e mais afiado.
