English
A server in the wrong time zone files invoices an hour off. A wrong keyboard makes passwords look like they changed.
Language pack is not the region
You can have menus in Portuguese and still be formatting dates as month/day/year. Set both: Settings, Time & language, Language, and then Region. Dates in Portugal are day/month/year. A program that imports a CSV will swap 03/04 and 04/03 if the region is United States. That bug looks like bad data, and it is a setting.
Time zone
Set the zone to (UTC+00:00) Dublin, Edinburgh, Lisbon, and leave “adjust for daylight saving” on unless you have a measured reason not to. Accounting closings, log files, and “who edited this at 18:40” all use that clock. A server left on UTC will be an hour wrong in summer, which is enough to miss a backup window you thought was after hours.
Keyboard inside the session
The Remote Desktop session can follow the client keyboard, or it can insist on its own. If the at-sign and the quotation mark have swapped, you are typing a different layout than you think, and the password you “changed” was a different string. Set the server layout to Portuguese (Portugal) if that is what the office uses, and check the language indicator before you type a password. Mac clients sometimes send a US layout until the Windows App keyboard mode is set to follow the Mac.
